Spirits run silent
Through a sea of reeds
A reflection of the future
Cloaked in flowing memory

A lesson in impermanence I long to ignore
A gentle reminder of the pain endured

The dawn creeps forward
And I am forced to reconcile
As the currents of time flow onward
And blur the lines of love and death

She calls my name

A final reminder
Of beauty wrought in spirits sown

The wind sings soft
A song of death
Departs her lips
On nature's breath

I lay my knife
On sacred ground
I bow my head
By honor bound

Ignite the flame
Of burning fate

She breathes me in
