K-Praize - One for the ages

If life is a book
Then I'm constantly writing pages
Every good book needs a title
I'm gonna call this
One for the ages
Everything I overcame
I'm so gracious
I envisaged heavenly reservations
So many trials and tribulations
I'm just doing destinations
My focus milk and honey
There's more bills than money
I've had some tough times
And that's for sure
I got three brothers
I just slept on the floor
Some nights was cold
Plenty of hand me down clothes

I see my mama struggle
Bills start to double
Under her breath I heard a mumble
She felt like the walls of life start to crumble
Walked away from bad situations only to stumble
Seeking love and relationships
But kept on chasing it
True happiness is found in God
I pray for the day that he opens your eyes

Turn the page - a new chapter
The story getting deeper
I lost my baby sister, trinity
Her memory will forever be a part of me
My little sister passed in her sleep
Lord knows, seems like a year ago

But it was 2004
She was only 2 weeks old
I recall the agony
As my moma fell to the floor
So mysterious how the Lord works
It was at church as we talked on the phone
I heard the brokeness in the voice
For a moment I felt surrounded like not alone
I felt her pain
I felt her hurt
I knew my moma needed me so instantly
I prayed in the back seat
That the Lord would comfort me

I was only eight back, then
I really couldn't express all the pain I held within
I learned through the scriptures
Believin' in him

But through the father and the son life begins

I learned to beat the odds by talking to God
I hear his voice by simply closing my eyes
My dad had a plan, he showed me the ropes
Devotion in my home, it really help me grow

So i thank God for my pops
I'm glad he changed
Keep me young
Yet he gave me that name

My two moms - you're some true moms
You're holding it down
When I need a friend to talk to
You're always around me
My grandparents, my brothers, my cousin, my fam
It ain't no fooling y'all
Cos you all know who I am.

I'm simply just keen - another branch of the family tree
So I say these verses with sincerenty
It's love in this melody
My thoughts are crystal clear
So I know that it's heavently
Nothing but the hands of the loving God that carried me
Looking back now I praise them and I smile.
