Way down in Louisiana close to New Orleans
Way back up in the woods among the evergreens
There stood a log cabin made of earth and wood
Where lived a country boy named Johnny B Good
Didn't like muggers taking over his land
Johnny got clever and joined the Ku Klux Klan


He used to carry his shotgun in a gunny sack
And sit beneath the tree by the railroad trackWatching for the muggers who had robbed the girls
Johnny put up the rifle and his flag unfurled
Muggers seen the gun held in Johnny's hand
Johnny put his life into another land
