It's cold in here

It may be an attractive face
It may be an exotic place
But I don't want anything if it's cold
Just when you think you found someone
A friend or lover they become
Part of a world that is turning cold

False honesty and pure mistrust
Are feelings which dwell in every single one of us
Some can refrain but others are bold
The ones that lash out are the ones that are cold
Hurt and sorrow are what they've inflicted
Devious and mean is how they are depicted
When selfishness and greed are the order of the day
Shield yourself and get out of the way
When it's cold

It's cold in here

People who wave feelings of everyone else
And live in excess solely for themselves
With no consideration for another one's joy
Self-importance is all that's employed
It's hard to understand how one becomes like that
At one time perhaps their goodness was intact
They may have been affected at a point in their existence
When it started getting cold and they lacked the resistance

The feeling of it's everywhere
Possessions are their only care
To have and to want too much is too cold
When it's time to take control
Turn away and just let go
You'll find no true exuberance in the cold

You're naive and blind when you're led to believe
When the truth is known you're set up to receive
A blow you thought could never be so low
From a trusted friend that went into the cold
Protect yourself from the sorrow and pain
Cover your head when it starts to rain
Leave plenty of time to estimate and react
Prepare to recoil prepare to retract
When it's cold
