The Bug - At War with Time

Beware the bottomless pits, the highest highs
The concrete jungle, the golden lies
Dangers of endless widening thighs
And the seductiveness of sexed-up eyes

The danger of being kissed or kissed off
The threat of being blessed or being cast off
Fear triggers an apocalypse of the mind
At war with the body, at war with time

Finding hope in ugly emotion
Unattainable curves and runaway destinations
Life is the most vivid of illusions
Yet we find beauty in the least expected locations

Behind hallucinatory billboards of death-riddled dreams
Flexible cards and disposable schemes
Endlessly falling for the prison of a smile
The only answer is taking death down the aisle
So fuck or be fucked, screw or be screwed
Heaven is burning and Hell is returning
This globe is boiling whilst our blood is freezing

For every blinding smile of a newborn child
The heart tries to warp, crawls, then dies
A lonely figure floats through negative space
Forever reaching out for a beautiful face
Blinded by the blur of white light yearning
A fool sees all but is never truly learning

One touch in the right place makes everything worthwhile
But in these end times, only running's in style

The daily spectacle scripted by fact
Gods of endless greed
Cheating on the one you love
And loving only the parasite that feeds
Torn between suicide and genocide
Marriage and matricide
Led like a dog on a lead
Begging for the touch we all crave and need

Time seems endless when you've nothing to give
The void seems sexy when you've nothing to live
Place your faith in a final sound
A sound of escape loud and profound

A sonic avalanche or the crushing stillness of silence
A loss of self, a loss of balance
We are all just trying to function
From the chaos of total malfunction
Beauty is everywhere but the price is so high
