The Last of Us


Leaving the darkened place behind
Fifteen years of despair abandoned
As I witness the worlds end around me
Frozen images, of my torment before
Spread winds to the fire tainted sky

Far away from the prison of dark
To the world of destruction and grief
That I finally see before me now
Where nothing lives, nothing grows
I am the last of us, the last alive

The once beautiful world that I pictured
Is nothing more than burnt rubble
I would weep for the death of it all
But my soul is already to scarred to feel
So I continue to fly away, the last of us

The ashen rain that falls from heaven
Coating my face in the dust of the dead
I search from the green of Gaia’s domain
But everything is darkened, dead and gone
In this new perpetual twilight, despair deepens

The last of us, the last of life, here
On top of the peak of the world, watching
Dark clouds pass above, foreboding
But only I will see their passing through
For I am there
