Alas, Tyranny - As I Lie Down to Die

The stars are shining
Burning ever so bright
Through the mist, piercing
Illuminating the frost

My limbs, my heart, my eyes
The cold seeps in to me
The moon seems to rise
temptation; all is lost

The clouds begin to cover
Thin wisps of precious life

I seek a setting now
Of calmness and peace
I fall on nature's vow
This is the end of strife

As I lie down to die
My mind begins to ponder
I feel my warmth escaping
With every passing breath

As I lie down to die
I see beauty and wonder
My bones and skin, losing sense
I give myself to the world

There is more to life, I know
This is not the extent of being
I am one with all that I see
I know now the universe

There exists a certain passion
That cries for eternity to bless
What little did I then know
to enlist myself to folly

There is more to life, I can see
The black abyss dividing us
is nothing more than darkness
Destroyed by the light of love

Can you see the vast beauty?
We are all the universe
How cruel, to come to see
as only Death can converse

As I lie down to die
The spirit of life awakens in me
Losing life with a tearful cry
I am aware of life's beauty

As I lie down to die
The fire of the void surrounds me
My soul and sense, giving way
I realize the universe

My time is over
as a fraction of space
My mind is over
expanding into the void

Collective understanding
give way to thermodynamics
All life is over
Forever, fading away
