Żywiołak - Świdryga i Midryga

It's not the galloping horses, which perk up their ears
It's two drunkards dancing - Świdryga and Midryga

Not even the noise of the barn where flails are being used to beat the grain
Is as loud as the meadow under their feet.

They were suprised by a pale Południca* in the sun
Who was delighted by Świdryga and Midryga and the dance

She was looking greedily in their eyes
"Who of you will take the lead for I am just one for you two?"

They pulled one of her hand, they pulled the second one
"You have to be enough for us both - you miser-strumpet!"

They splitted her into two pieces
Into to twin girls - a right one and a left one

So Świdryga danced with the right one and Midryga with the left one
The first one was sweeping the dust with his heel, the second one with his boot-top.

They danced with her until fall and death
Untill she died simultaneously in both her forms

They buried her in two coffins but in one grave
But there is underground echo roumoring - the two coffins have been dancing

Even the death has been spinnig with them in the lively lament
Even the graveyard has been shaking fearfully with remains

All the foggy knowlege mixed up in their heads
Where is the right side of the world and where is the left side?

In which coffin has the left girl been laying and in which the right one?
Which one belongs to which of us after the death?

They have gone insane and both kneeled over a precipice
And danced on their knees by the edge.

Strucked by the gloom of the coffins
They fell into the abbys of death with their legs up!

* Południca is a Demon in a shape of woman which murders people who stay in the field by the noon
