Before the golden sand cuddles them
before the lustre of the face gleams in their eyes
before the men's trouble
start over and over again
before the time for the fist confessions comes
Susans are still asleep, they're still sleeping
they're still sleeping soundly
they're still hiding their beauty in hundreds of ways
the perpetual objective of sighs
the objective of sighs, the objective of men's sighs
from Nice unto Hel, from Nice unto Hel
Susans are still asleep, they're still sleeping

They're still sleeping peacefully
wise virgins*, not too bad
I know what's what
they lace their fingers together into a graceful drowsy gesture
like one rhyme with another one
all haste is
comletely foreign to their nature

soon not only one cloud of concern
will whiten among men's foreheads
because of Susan in the bath not only one man's felt
the trembling of the heart and the fantasising of the dream
but they're sleeping for the meantime, they're still sleeping

They're still sleeping peacefully...

But when the circle of the sun
finally wields power over the beach
Susans will look around
boldly as hell
they'll notice enough men all around
but also a great deal of costs, at any rate
every man will have time to get the brush from Susan**
