Watch the moth drawn to the candle
Drawn towards the comfort
Falls into the flame.

Then bitter, burnt, retreats, painful
Fears the shifting shadows
Flies straight back again.

Only pretty at a distance
So smudge your eyes with tears
Just when you think you've seen and known me
it’s not what it seems from in here.

You reach for what you thought you wanted
Taking words for granted
Led by the appeal
But now you've found the truth warranted
Surprised the warnings I said
Turned out to be real.

You think you've diamonds, go to touch them
But its broken glass you go to grasp so tightly
Did you ever come to know that ruins sometimes
Shine just as brightly.

When it gets too much to handle
Turning fast and running
Shouting I’m to blame.

Maybe innocence would suit me
But blue eyes darken quickly
See through me just the same...
